Paul Black
Paul Black, born November 4, 1996, in Glasgow, is a Scottish writer, director, and comedian known for his sharp, character-driven short-form comedy sketches. He first gained attention in 2017 after posting a series of relatable and often surreal videos on Twitter, which quickly earned him a dedicated following. In 2019, he was commissioned by BBC Scotland to create the sketch-show pilot Pity Party, which he wrote and directed. He continued his success with the 2022 Hogmanay comedy special First Footing, also for BBC Scotland, showcasing his unique voice and flair for observational humour. In 2025, he wrote and directed the comedy special Govan Fair Queen, further establishing himself as a rising force in Scottish comedy. Black’s work blends absurdity with social commentary, and he has become a prominent voice in modern Scottish entertainment, both online and on television.
