Jorge Solé
Jorge Solé (Montevideo, 1941) is a Uruguayan-Venezuelan filmmaker, documentarian, and photographer, regarded as a key figure of the New Latin American Cinema. A self-taught artist in film and television, he arrived in Venezuela in the 1960s, where he developed a prolific career as a director, screenwriter, and educator. His most acclaimed work, TVenezuela (1969), is a pioneering documentary that analyzes mass media and popular culture from a decolonial perspective. He was the founder of the Film Department at the University of Los Andes and a member of the Executive Committee of the CNAC.
