Didi dreams of improving his life and is trying to leave the community (the slum) where he grew up, when he discovers that he is indirectly working for Casimiro Alves. A Portuguese immigrant known as Dr. Ciro, famous boss of the illegal lottery in Rio. Didi's dream turns into a nightmare of violence, drug trafficking, and corruption in the marvelous city.
